The TOSA electric bus uses flash-charging technology via a mechanical articulated arm mounted on its roof.
As the feeding stations are spread over the network, the bus can regularly top up its battery to cover long distances and increase its operating range, giving it an unlimited daily autonomy.
The main advantage of this new bus is that it can recharge its batteries at certain stations meaning that, unlike trolley buses, it does not need to use overhead lines. Thanks to TOSA, the walls and sky are freed from cables, pylons and intricate networks of overhead wires.
This innovation developed by ABB Sécheron (ABB) makes electric buses just as flexible as their diesel counterparts, while remaining 100% environmentally friendly.
